Telling Richland County’s Story

The Public Information Office (PIO) seeks to increase public awareness and understanding of Richland County Government.

Our team distributes accurate, timely information to news media, residents, elected officials, County employees and other government agencies, while also providing communications support for County departments, programs and initiatives.

What We Do

• Assist members of local and national news media with questions about Richland County programs or services through news releases and other communication
• Manage a variety of social media platforms for the County. Follow us to stay up to date!
• Produce videos on County services, programs and events, while managing the streaming of meetings for Richland County Council and various committees
• Coordinate year-round public events to encourage dialogue between residents and their local government
• Produce three newsletters: The Richland Weekly Review, a resident-focused newsletter on all things Richland County Government; The Richland County Transportation Penny Progress Report, a periodic newsletter centered on on improving transportation where we live; The County Connection, a monthly newsletter for County employees
• Provide technical and visual guidance for County communications and marketing needs
• Help manage the County’s primary website, richlandcountysc.gov

Community Engagement

Our office encourages proactive engagement between residents and County leadership, departments and divisions to increase public awareness in and trust of Richland County Government.
