Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee

Purpose
The committee was created by the Richland County Council on January 22, 1985, according to State law, to make recommendations and provide advisory assistance to the County Council on the expenditure of revenue generated from the Accommodations Tax as required by Article 6, Title 12, Chapter 35 South Carolina Code of Laws.
Meeting Schedule
Frequency: Twice in March/April; members are expected to review applications over a four-week period, which can take approximately 15 hours
Time: normal working hours; set based on membership availability
Location: 2020 Hampton St.
Duration: first meeting up to six hours; second meeting up to two hours
Membership Details
Seven members appointed for two-year terms.
- Majority of members are from the Hospitality Industry;
- At least two members must be from the Lodging Industry;
- One member must represent the cultural organizations;
- Members shall not serve more than two consecutive terms; however, upon service of two consecutive terms a member may be eligible for reappointment after one year of non-service.
