Schedule a Fire Inspection

  • You can request an inspection at least 48 hours in advance either by phone or through the eTrakit Portal.
  • Inspectors are assigned based on your location and our availability.

Prepare

  1. Power, water, and other utilities are working
  2. Phone and internet lines are active
  3. Fire protection systems have been tested, and all required documents are ready (like NFPA test forms)
  4. Approved building and fire protection plans on site
  5. Completed testing documents for fire systems
  6. Manufacturer instructions for installed fire equipment
  7. Someone on site who knows the systems and has any tools or equipment needed for testing

During an Inspection

Every building is different, but here are some of the things we usually look for in new commercial buildings:

  1. Exit signs and emergency lights work properly
  2. Fire alarm systems are installed and tested
  3. Sprinklers, standpipes, and other suppression systems are tested and working
  4. Fire extinguishers are installed near exits
  5. Fire-rated walls are sealed correctly
  6. Building’s street address is clearly visible (numbers at least 4 inches tall)
  7. Fire trucks can access all parts of the building
  8. Electrical work meets safety codes
  9. All safety systems are ready and working before anyone moves in

After

You'll get a written report with results. If everything is in order, you’ll be Approved for Occupancy.

If changes are needed, you’ll be given a list of what to fix.

When you’re ready, schedule a re-inspection directly with the same inspector.

Our goal is to work with you to make sure your building is safe and ready to open.
