Richland County Ag + Art Tour Coordinator

Description: The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) seeks a Richland County Ag + Art Tour Coordinator. The Coordinator will chair the Richland County Ag + Art Tour Planning Committee and will oversee implementation of the 2026 Richland County Tour in accordance with guidelines provided by the SC Ag + Art Tour Director.

Primary Tasks:

  • Chair the Richland County Ag + Art Tour Planning Committee
  • Facilitate monthly Richland County Ag + Art Tour Planning Committee meetings
  • Serve as Richland County’s representative on the statewide Ag + Art Tour Committee, attending statewide Committee meetings and acting as a liaison between the statewide program and the county program
  • Support, direct, and oversee the work of other Planning Committee members, including Richland County and RSWCD staff, to ensure all Ag + Art Tour action items are implemented on time and within the operating budget

Position Type: The Ag + Art Tour Coordinator will serve as an independent contractor working remotely and will be paid on an hourly basis. The contract will run from October 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026 for an average of 5 hours/week of work, up to a maximum of 220 hours or $8,000 during the contract period.

Richland County Ag + Art Tour Artisan Coordinator

Description: The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) seeks a Richland County Ag + Art Tour Artisan Coordinator. The Artisan Coordinator will recruit, oversee, and evaluate all artisan applications; assign tour site placements; and coordinate all planning, communication, and logistics pertaining to artisans. The Artisan Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact for artisans participating in the Richland County Ag + Art Tour.

Primary Tasks:

  • Recruit artisans for the 2026 Richland County Ag + Art Tour.
  • Manage artisan application process, including reviewing and tracking submissions.
  • Assign artisans to participating tour sites in coordination with tour site hosts.
  • Serve as primary liaison between artisans and tour sites, providing clear and timely communication.
  • Maintain artisan records and contact lists.
  • Assist with planning and execution of artisan-related aspects of the tour, including logistics, set-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate and evaluate artisan participation post-event, including collecting feedback and documenting outcomes.

Position Type: The Ag + Art Tour Artisan Coordinator will serve as an independent contractor working remotely and will be paid on an hourly basis. The contract will run from October 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026 for an average of 3 hours/week of work, up to a maximum of 175 hours or $5,000 during the contract period.

Purpose

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District promotes the wise use and care of natural resources, with a focus on soil and water, for long-term sustainability in a changing environment.

Meeting Schedule

Frequency: Monthly on the second Monday of the month

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Lizard’s Thicket, 7938 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209

Membership Details

Conservation districts are political subdivisions of state government under the local direction of a five-member Board of Commissioners. Three commissioners are elected in the General Election and two are appointed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Both elected and appointed positions are for four-year terms.

Associate commissioners are officially appointed by the board as non-voting advisors and representatives. Associate commissioner terms are two years in length, and no term limits apply.
