Tax Payment Plan

Available for 2024 and 2025 Property Taxes

Richland County offers a monthly payment option to help you manage your property tax bill.

  • This option is not available for vehicle taxes.
  • We also allow early payments for next year’s tax bill — similar to an escrow account.

Start a Payment Plan

Step 2.Sign a contract.

Sign a contract with the Treasurer’s Office agreeing to the plan terms.

Step 3.Make the first payment.

Make your first payment when you submit your contract.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • In person (cash, certified funds, debit, or credit)
  • By mail (check)
  • Monthly bank draft
  • Online (requires signed contract first).

Phone payments are not accepted.

Payment Timing

  • You choose how many payments to make and when.
  • Penalties begin after January 16, based on state law.
  • Your entire 2024 tax bill must be paid by September 30, 2025.

Important Notes

  • Penalties may still apply. The payment plan does not stop late fees or other charges required by state law.
  • Delinquent notices will still be sent. You may receive certified letters or notices about tax collection.
  • The program is free. There are no fees to join the monthly payment plan.

What if I can’t finish payments?

If your taxes are not paid in full by September 30, 2025, the County will refund your payments, and you will owe the full balance in one payment before your property goes to tax sale.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes! You can pay your bill off at any time. The earlier you finish, the fewer penalties you may have.
