Neighborhood Improvement Program

The Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP) was created by County Council to help make neighborhoods better places to live. It supports local projects and neighborhood plans through a strong partnership between the County and neighborhood groups.

The goal of NIP is to support the long-term health and well-being of neighborhoods—socially, economically, and physically—by investing in projects that make a real difference in people’s daily lives.

Community Engagement

Community engagement is at the heart of the Neighborhood Improvement Program’s mission. NIP regularly hosts trainings and events for neighborhoods to learn about the county and also voice any concerns or neighborhood-related issues to NIP staff. In addition to hosting events, NIP staff is happy to attend neighborhood organization meetings to educate them about the Program and other county resources.
