Membership Details
Conservation districts are political subdivisions of state government under the local direction of a five-member Board of Commissioners. Three commissioners are elected in the General Election and two are appointed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Both elected and appointed positions are for four-year terms.
Associate commissioners are officially appointed by the board as non-voting advisors and representatives. Associate commissioner terms are two years in length, and no term limits apply.
