(Richland PIO) – Pontiac Solar LLC announces plans to construct a solar farm in Eastover, in southeast Richland County. The company plans to invest $112.5 million to develop a tract along Pine Thicket Road for the 75-megawatt installation. Once operational, the farm is expected to produce enough energy to support the County and state’s energy needs.
“Pontiac Solar LLC looks forward to launching this newest solar site in South Carolina. We’re looking forward to contributing to the economic success and sustainability of Richland County and the state,” said the Project Manager of Pontiac Solar LLC.
The project, approved by Richland County Council during a third reading Tuesday night, represents a rare and significant opportunity for the County to expand its utility-scale commercial solar presence.
“Richland County welcomes Pontiac Solar LLC to our community. Not only does this project give a boost to our environmental sustainability goals and for economic development growth, it’s an investment in a brighter and more sustainable future for our residents,” said Jesica Mackey, co-chair of the Columbia Area Development Partnership and chairwoman of Richland County Council.
