PUBLIC NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION SC SENATE DISTRICT 19
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF RICHLAND
The special election for this office will be held on January 2, 2024.
Registering to Vote: Any person wishing to vote in the SC Senate District 19 must be registered in person by Friday, December 1, by 5:00 p.m. at the Richland County Voter Registration Office. Voter registration online, by fax, or by email must be entered no later than Sunday, December 3 at 11:59 pm. Voter registration by mail forms will be accepted if postmarked no later than Monday, December 4.

Early Voting: The no excuse early voting period for the Special Election begins on Monday, December 18 and ends on Friday, December 29. The following Early Voting Center will be open during the early voting period from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday, also closed State Holiday December 25-26).

Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs when voting in person.

If you have one of these Photo IDs, you are ready to vote. Voters should remember to bring one of these IDs with them to the polling place. Voters without Photo ID can get one free of charge from the Department of Motor Vehicles or their county voter registration office. For more information on Photo ID, visit scVOTES.gov or contact your county board of voter registration and elections.
Absentee Voting: Registered electors who cannot vote in person on the day of the election and who will be out of the county for the duration of early voting may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Completed applications must be returned no later than 5:00 p.m. on the eleventh day before the day of the election. Absentee ballot application requests can be obtained by phone (803-576-2240) or in person at the Richland County Voter Registration Office, 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, S.C. (December 22)
Absentee Ballot Examination: At 6:30 a.m. on the day of the election the Richland County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at the Voter Registration and Elections Office, 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC, 29204.
Hearing: The Richland County Board of Canvassers will convene on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in the election. These hearings will be held at the Richland County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC, 29204. Contact 803-576-2240 for any questions.
On January 2 the following precincts and polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Always check your polling place at scVOTES.gov before leaving to vote in any election.
