August 2022 – NIP SPEED Event: Being Prepared with Probate Court
Description: NIP presents a talk with Amy McCulloch, the Richland County Probate Judge. Probate Court serves the community by administering estates and executing wills, issuing marriage licenses, appointing guardianships and conservatorships, ordering involuntary commitments of mentally ill or chemically dependent persons, and hears and decides trust and estate litigation. Attendees can learn and ask questions about these functions of Probate Court and what it means for them and their families.

September 2022: Have Your Voice Heard with the Ombudsman’s Office
Description: NIP and RCNC invite attendees to come learn about the Richland County Ombudsman’s Office. The Ombudsman is an impartial dispute-resolutioner, whose major function is to provide informal assistance to citizens and to assist citizens with county concerns and request for service. Richland County residents can call the Ombudsman to voice their concerns and request county services. Kelly Fleming from the Ombudsman’s Office will be available to speak with attendees and answer any questions they may have regarding the department’s functions.

Neighborhood Enrichment Grant Program Training
Description: Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP) staff will present an overview of the Neighborhood Enrichment Grant Program, including what types of projects are eligible for grant funds and what you need to submit a successful application.

January 2023: NIP SPEED Event: Promoting Community Health Resources
Description: NIP invites neighborhood leaders to our January SPEED event to learn about community health resources in Richland County. A community health representative from PRISMA will be available to speak about their initiatives. PRISMA provides many health and wellness services for neighborhoods and the Richland County community. Come join us for this informative session before the regularly scheduled meeting of the Richland County Neighborhood Council.
