UPDATE: Richland County’s Lower Richland Drop-off Center, at 10531 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover, has reopened to the public after a temporary closure. The facility will resume normal operating hours Friday, June 27.
(Richland PIO) – Richland County’s Lower Richland Drop-off Center is temporarily closed out of safety concerns after storms caused a tree near the site to fall on a nearby power line.
Until further notice, the County encourages residents to avoid the site, at 10531 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover, and choose another location to drop off recyclables. The County’s Solid Waste & Recycling Division said it hopes to reopen the site later Thursday.
In addition to curbside recycling collection, Richland County has two other drop-off sites for residents to dispose of waste:
- C&D Landfill, 1070 Caughman Road N. (off Monticello Road); open 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays
- Clemson Road Recycling Drop-off Site, 900 Clemson Road; open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday
Numerous thunderstorms arrived in the County on Wednesday night, with frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds damaging trees and power lines.
