Students at four Richland County schools will experience hands-on environmental education this school year, thanks to the financial support provided by Conservation Education Mini-Grants administered by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD).
The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District has two upcoming district commissioner vacancies which will be filled by appointment. Interested candidates should submit a Commissioner Application Form to soilandwater@richlandcountysc.gov by February 9, 2024.
The Agritourism Intern will assist the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District with the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the Richland County Ag + Art Tour. The Intern will work approximately 20 hours/week from May 15 through August 15, 2024. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to Chanda Cooper at cooper.chanda@richlandcountysc.gov by January 31, 2024.
To incentivize Richland County high school students' participation in the SC Envirothon competition, the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) will pay the team registration fee of $175 for the first three Richland County teams who submit their complete registration packets to the SC Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR). Additionally, RSWCD will provide a stipend of $500 to the first three Richland County team coaches who submit their completed registration packets to SCDNR.
The 2023-2024 Youth Conservation Poster Contest theme is "May the Forest Be With You Always." Richland County K-12 students are invited to design a forest awareness poster highlighting the beauty, diversity, and importance of forest ecosystems. Each poster must include the words "May the Forest Be With You Always" in the poster design. Poster submitted by Friday, April 12, 2024 will be eligible for cash prizes at the local, state, and national levels! poster titled
