With Hurricane Michael expected to impact the Midlands Wednesday evening through Thursday evening bringing high winds and upwards of three inches of rain or more, I want to ask that you please take this valuable time to ensure that all the required protection needed at your construction sites are in place and functioning as designed. If you have a silt fence that borders the road or sensitive areas such as wetlands or other Waters of the State, please make sure that they are in good shape and can handle the burden of this "out of the ordinary" rain event. Check your inlet protection to make sure that it is adequate and up to the task of preventing heavy sediments from washing into the storm drainage system and make sure that your ponds will handle this event without trouble. While this storm may not be packing quite the rainfall of other storms, a little thoughtful preparation more than makes up for the effort spent in cleanup afterward!
Thanks again for all your efforts in adhering to the Richland County Codes and other regulations and if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, don't hesitate to call or email me!
